Just for today, I will live the attitude of gratitude Just for today, I will not worry Just for today, I will not anger, Just for today, I will do my work honestly, Just for today, I will show love and respect for every living thing.
— Dr Mikao Usui

Reiki has been a huge part of my life for the last 12 years. I use it personally for my own self healing and for friends and family as well as professionally.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of Energy Healing. It's can be easy to feel energy within our body but our feelings and thoughts are also energy. During a Reiki healing session universal energy flows through the Reiki practitioner to the client. This can be directed to specific parts of the body but also is drawn to where it needs to go.

Usui Reiki

I first trained in Usui Reiki 12 years ago. This form of Reiki was created by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan around 1920. Since then it has become widely practised throughout the world with approximately 2 million practitioners world wide, many in a medical setting.

Karuna Reiki

I learnt Karuna Reiki in 2014 in the wonderful Italian town of Assisi. It was a very special experience and since then I've enjoyed bringing Karuna Reiki into my personal and professional Reiki healing and also trained as a Karuna Reiki Master Teacher.

Karuna is a Sanskrit word and means compassionate action. Karuna Reiki works with the healing energy of Mother Mary, Quan Yin and the Christ Consciousness. It was developed by William Lee Rand.

Reiki Treatment

In a standard treatment Reiki energy flows from the practitioners hands into the client. The client is usually laying on a massage table but treatments can also be given while the client is seated or even standing. The client remains fully clothed. The practitioner places her hands on or near the clients body in a series of hand positions. These include positions around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and feet. Other, more specific positions may be used based on the clients needs. A  treatment usually lasts between 45 and 90 minutes.

What you might experience during Reiki varies from person to person. However, feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all. In addition, many feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and surrounds them. As the Reiki energy encourages one to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings a state of peace and well-being is experienced.
